Hiatus Shmiatus: The ThirdWorldBookNerd Story Thus Far
Hi everyone! I am back after a bajillion years!
Things have run tight and hectic the past few months— wait, why do I end up saying that all the time? I’ve been juggling so many things that the only solution to it was to take a break from here. The constant writing and juggling also drained my creative juices and I almost gave up on blogging. Scary, I know. Thankfully, a lot of people have inspired me to continue and, well, here we are! Back at it again with the books and nerdy stuff.
I’m ever so happy to be back writing back here. So much has happened in the local book community— it’s insane. What have we missed? Let’s see:
I Was Invited To Speak About Books And Reading
Earlier this month, I was invited by St. Scholastica’s Academy to speak to students about the joy of reading and writing. It was a very unique experience for me. I read a chapter of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe to the entire grade 7 class. Later that afternoon, I plied their school paper staff with random writing prompts to get their creative juices going. Those kids could write! I was very nervous at the beginning but we all ended up having a blast. I was so happy to share the happiness that comes when you open a new (or old) book. You can read the full story on my personal blog here.
We Had An Awesome Giveaway
We hit 900 likes on Facebook earlier this month. To say thank you to our loyal followers, we did a Harry Potter Giveaway where one winner got to take home a Bloomsbury copy of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone. A wonderful dude named Rex won, by the way, and he was as stoked as us. π
ThirdWorldBookNerd’s Facebook Page Is Almost at 1000 likes!
That being the case, I’m so proud to say that my little blog’s Facebook page is almost at the 1k mark. π It’s a small milestone but I milestone nonetheless. π I hope this becomes a way for us to reach more bookworms far and wide.
We’re Now Accepting Contributions!
In an attempt to bring the community together, I’ve also opened TWBN for contributions. All you have to do is send your article to cliffhangercebu.com! I’ll be posting contributions soon.
And Of Course, I Have New Books
What is a book blog without new books? I might have been swamped with work and adulting but I still have time to buy books old and new. π I can’t wait to sit down and properly read them with a nice mug of hot chocolate.
Well, I guess that sums up everything that’s happened since the last post. It’s only a few more days until Christmas and I can’t wait for all the festivities to begin. π Until the next post, then. Happy Holidays, everyone!
